Suche: Krankenhäuser / Unikliniken fürs Praktische Jahr

Etwas Offtopic, aber ich bin sicher nicht der einzige Mediziner hier im Forum…
Ich gehe nächstes Jahr ins PJ von meinem Medizinstudium und suche gerade die passenden Krankenhäuser, wo ich auch regelmäßig ins Wasser komme.
Englisch ist leider die einzige Sprache, die ich gut genug spreche um Patienten behandeln zu können, darum steht auf meiner Liste ganz oben:

– Australien, insbesondere die Gegend um Sydney oder Gold Coast

– California, insbesondere um San Diego

– Südafrika / Kapstadt

– Neuseeland, war ich noch nie, ist aber sicher in unserem Winter toll und kann man gut mit Australien verknüpfen

Das Problem ist das diese Locations wo es warm ist und man surfen kann wähnsinnig beliebt sind und es natürlich entsprechend schwer ist einen Platz fürs PJ-Tertial zu bekommen.
Vielleicht hat ja jemand einen Geheimtip für mich wo eine tolle Klinik für PJ+Surfen ist, oder vielleicht hat ja sogar jemend Connections zu einer Klinik. Antworten gerne auch per PM!

bezüglich Australien, Neuseeland, USA und Canada kann ich dir sagen, dass es im moment extrem schwer ist eine malpractice insurance zu bekommen, die diese krankenhäuser als vorraussetzung verlangen. zudem ist es extrem!!! teuer in Australien und Neuseeland das PJ / KPJ zu absolvieren. Und surfen? tja du bist dort zum arbeiten und nicht zum surfen und daher kommt das eher kürzer. Einige Freunde von mir machen ihr KPJ/PJ in Lissabon und sagen, dass sie sehr viel zum surfen kommen und sprachlich gibts praktisch keine Probleme.

Kann dir wirklich nahe legen in Europa zu bleiben und sehr viel Geld zu sparen das du dann im Urlaub nach dem PJ besser anlegen kannst.

Meinst du mit den extrem hohen Kosten Studiengebühren oder Lebenhaltungskosten? Studiengebühren wollte ich eigentlich nicht zahlen, aber da gibts doch den „Trick“ nur 8Wochen in Australien zu machen und nix zu zahlen. Oder zieht das nicht mehr?
Und dann 8 Wochen Neuseeland oder so 🙂

Das mit der Versicherung ist ein guter Punkt, ich dachte immer das meine Beruftshaftpflichtversicherung weltweit ist, sogar explizt inkl USA, aber da muß ich nochmal die Versicherungsbedingungen genau durchlesen 💡

wenn du in australien pj machen willst, damm musst du a die genauen zeitslots beachten, b kannst du nur wenige fächer wählen, c musst du hohe anmeldegebühren/ bearbeitungsgebüren von mehreren hundert euro zahlen nur um einen platz zu bekommen, dann kommen versicherung, etliche titerbestimmungen, lungenröntgen, mrsa test etc dazu. lebenskosten sind auch recht hoch und in neuseeland schauts gleich aus.

Elective Placements

To be eligible for an elective placement at the University of Tasmania you must be in your penultimate or final year at the time of the elective. Elective students are strongly encouraged to take part in the formal teaching components offered through our final year curriculum, in addition to full clinical participation in the ward to which they are attached.

Elective placements are subject to availability and can be offered for a minimum of four (4) weeks with a maximum period of twelve (12) weeks in any one elective area. Applicants can undertake more than one elective, for example, 12 weeks in Surgery and 12 weeks in Medicine, but not more than 12 weeks in either. A 12 week elective can consist of 4-week rotations within a specialty, for example, Endocrinology and Nephrology under Internal Medicine.

Elective placements are available within the University of Tasmania’s three teaching hospitals:

The Launceston General Hospital is located in the north of Tasmania in Launceston. Students can undertake electives during the period 24 Oct 2010- 11 Feb 2011.

The North West Regional Hospital is located in the north west of the state at Burnie. It is part of the North West Area Health Service. Students can undertake electives during the period 24 Oct 2010- 11 Feb 2011.

The Royal Hobart Hospital is located in the south of Tasmania in Hobart and is the main Tertiary teacing hospital in the state. Students can undertake electives during the period 24 Oct 2010- 11 Feb 2011

Please note that all requests for elective placements are handled through the University’s School of Medicine and are to be directed to the Electives Co-ordinator and not directly to the hospitals.

Please note that there is a limited number of elective placements available due to the increase of domestic students.

Electives may be arranged in the following areas:

* Surgery;
* General Medicine – including such specialties as Cardiology, Oncology, Endocrinology;
* Emergency Medicine;
* Obstetrics and/or Gynaecology;
* Paediatrics; and
* Psychiatry

Successful applicants, who attend during semester time, are expected to attend lectures and integrated case-based learning sessions and tutorials, in addition to clinics and ward rounds. Elective students are accorded the same rights and responsibilities as a final year medicine student at the University of Tasmania.

To expedite processing of your application please ensure you fill in all sections, including listing, in descending order, your elective preferences, including start and end dates. Ensure that the Dean (or senior Faculty officer) completes the appropriate section and affixes your University stamp/seal. Please note the period must be at least four (4) weeks and can be up to sixteen (16) weeks in any one area.
The following documents are required to be attached to your application form:

a copy of your academic record current as at lodgement of your application;
*

details of medical indemnity coverage – either extended by your home University and verified by Dean’s (or nominee’s) signature; or providing written evidence of coverage from the relevant insurer;
*

a current Police Check; and

*

completed Infectious Diseases form. Students should familiarise themselves with the School of Medicine’s Infectious Diseases‘ Policy.

Send your application at least six months prior to the proposed placement.

Please note that all applicants must be proficient in both written and spoken English, be in good academic standing with their home University and be in the final year of their University’s medical course at the time of the elective placement.

Fees

Students from overseas Universities are charged a fee of $AUD235.00 per week for placements at the Launceston General and North-west Regional Hospital and $275 for placements at the Royal Hobart Hospital. Domestic (Australian, New Zealand) students are charged a minimal administrative fee of $100 per week. There is no application fee. Payment is required once an elective place is confirmed and accepted by you, and must be received at least two months prior to your commencement date.
Accommodation

Student accommodation is available through Tasmanian University’s Union’s Student Housing Scheme at: http://www.utas.edu.au/accommodation/contact/htm

It is the elective student’s responsibility to organise accommodation either before they depart home or on arrival in Tasmania.
Visas

Overseas applicants should contact their nearest Australian Immigration Office with respect to visa requirements. The location of your nearest Immigration Office can be found at: http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/index.htm.
Other Information

In accepting an elective you will be required to be familiar with, and at all times abide by the Code of Conduct developed between the Department of Health and Human Services, and the University of Tasmania, governing conduct of all medical students within the State’s three teaching hospitals.

Students are responsible for all travel and living costs.

Students should note that there is no formal University lecture timetable from November until the beginning of February.

ich weiß ja nicht an welcher uni du bist. ich studier in ulm und bei uns gibt es vom Dekanat eine Liste mit Ländern und Krankenhäusern, die vom Dekanat als Lehrkrankenhäuser anerkannt wurden. vielleicht solltest du dich da mal bei dir an der uni erkundigen, da würd es sicher bei euch auch was ähnliches geben. Bei uns umfasst die Liste 40 Länder und pro Land sind es zw. 1 und 20 Kliniken. Außerdem kannst duch dich ja auch mal erkundigen mit welchen Ländern diene Uni Partnerschaften über Erasmus hat, dann musst du ja auch keine zusätzlichen stuidengebühren zahlen.

Das mit den Gebühren klingt ja gar nicht gut, den ganzen Tag arbeiten und dann noch dafür zahlen 😕

Zwengs der Liste mit den zugelassenen Lehrkrankenhäusern: Sowas gibts bei uns auch, es gehen aber auch andere LEHRKrankenhäuser, nur ist es dann halt noch mehr bürokratischer Aufwand.

Das die ganze Sache nicht ganz einfach wird hab ich mir schon gedacht, naja ich bleib dran…
