This year has been amazing so far….
A little update from some of the better days.
13. – 16. of Jan the south coast of Senegal was on fire. We surfed z secret spot 1 hour from Dakar. Here is some photos and videos

danke? der dude spamt seit geraumer zeit immer wieder das forum mit seinem Camp voll. Danke gäbs nur wenn er das einstellen würde. Wenn ich in Senegal surfen möchte, dann kann ich das ja gerne googeln. Aber die dauernde Schleichwerbung nervt.
Ich bin etwas unentschlossen. Klar, er macht nur Werbung. Andererseits wüßten hier vermutlich viele nicht, dass man überhaupt im Senegal surfen kann (und setzen deswegen Afrika automatisch mit Marokko gleich). Die große Geldmaschine wird das Camp wohl auch nicht sein. Von daher wäre mein Vorschlag: mal stehen lassen, solange es nicht überhand nimmt. Wenn ich zuviele beschweren, kann ichs immer noch löschen.
Yeah…. it’s pretty empty here (also the camp) very few surf tourists find their way to Senegal. Even though the waves are consistent and the lineups empty. From the island we have 4 good spot we can reach by boat and be all alone.
Yes, I am trying put Senegal on the surf map. But still after working on it for more than 3 year, it didn’t make much difference.

I feel more safe here than in any major European city, we go out partying until 6 in the morning and walk home through the slum. Never heard about any one getting in trouble. Yeah you can be unlucky to be pickpocket in Dakar…. but apart from that.
Terrorist thread…. Still no one was kidnapt and pretty sure the French and Americans would nuke any terrorist putting their feet on Senegalese soil:-) They both have to big interenst in keeping Senegal safe.
Last time the where trouble in Casamasse (south Senegal) was in 2009….. travel advice still there….. Glad that most my guests don’t listen to them and go explore this amazing country.

Ich denke mal, wenn man da als normaler Touri und Surfer unterwegs ist sollte nichts passieren, genau wie ‚africansurfer‘ schon gesagt hat.
Und lasst ihn doch bitte weiter Fotos posten, ich bin sehr an Surf-Spots abseits der typischen Ziele interessiert!

Dude! Epic Waves! Does the lineup in Dakar get dirty?
The Almadies spots like Ouakam, Secret, Vivier and Club Med are clean. There is another 2-3 spots direction the city center that are to dirty to surf.
All the spots on the NGor side are clean and on the glassy days the water is crystal clear.
One spot Baides des Carpes can get quite dirty in the rainy seasonOaukam this morning

Can i rent a surfboard in your place?In the summer the waves a quiet smaller, but more perfect days. As the wind is offshore most days.
Summer is south swell season with spots like Club Med, Secret, Vivier and Ouakam working at their best. Also great glassy days at NGor right and left. Best of all the water is 28 degrees:-)Swell consistency for Senegal

So is there boards for rent or am i fucked if i don’t have my own gear?I have 30 different board in the rack.. From 6″1 – performance long boards in polyester and epoxy. So sure something you can use. I take 10 Euro per day for board rent.

meine freundin war auch schon 2mal im Senegal surfen, die war total begeistert, und hatte null gefühl von gefahr.
also immer schön gechillt bleiben…

There must be great waves on the Bissagos islands?!?Yeah there is surf, but it’s rather inconsistent. Guinea picks up a little south swell, so the season is Mai to September and only the big south swells hit the coast.
If you look at google ocean you can see that Guinea dosen’t have any deep water spots = not much swell coming through. Same problem with the islands, the water is pretty shallow, so they don’t pick up to much swell.
More Ouakam from the other day…. Awaiting the new monster swell hitting us some time this night:-)
War gerade ein paar Tage im Ngor Surfcamp. Cool! Gute Atmosphäre, gute uncrowded Wellen, gutes Essen und lockere Menschen. Kann ich nur empfehlen. Für mich war es das erste mal in einem Surfcamp, deshalb kann ich keinen Vergleich anstellen.. Falls jmd Fragen hat, kann er/sie mir ja ne PM schicken.

From 2014 I have a new deal with Brussels airlines.
If you a ticket by brussels and book in the surfcamp, they offer 10% off the ticket and boards for free (32kg). Best of all the flight goes direct from Brussels to Dakar (5 1/2 hours), so you leave in the morning and can still make it for an evening surf in Dakar.
