Diploma of Sport Management (Surfing Studies)
Introduction
The Diploma of Sport Management (Surfing Studies) is an exciting and challenging one-year course that commenced in 2004. The course, developed in conjunction with Surfing Australia, aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills required of employees and managers in the global surf industry.The curriculum has been specifically designed to provide a balance between sport management theory and surfing studies. The course includes practical components that offer students valuable personal development and industry experience. This ensures an essential link between classroom knowledge and professional practice.
What will the course do for me?
Students will benefit from the expertise of the lecturing staff who are leaders in their respective fields, with strong links to surf industry and general sport groups, and whose expertise is regularly sought in the national and international arena.Career opportunities
The surf industry has become prominent in recent years with surfboard manufacture, surf accessories, clothing manufacture, wholesale and retail sales, surf tourism, surf events and surf schools forming a key industry sector. Graduates of the program can expect to find employment in such settings.Course Structure
The Diploma of Sport Management (Surfing Studies) draws upon the disciplines of sport management and surfing studies. Subjects studied provide a basic foundation in the sport management profession. Students are required to satisfactorily complete 8 units plus a four-week industry placement experience.Semester One

Applications for on-campus study should be lodged with the NSW Universities Admissions Centre (UAC code 355071) or the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC code 055071).For current year 12 students, application information is available from July from their high school or college.
For all other applicants, application material may be purchased from newsagents and university campuses throughout NSW and Queensland.
