Mood: a-ok
Now Playing: 2-6 wIt is pretty impossible to get Lower Trestles on a Saturday morning without crowds, but once again I am surprised to see so few in the water. The surf was finally fading from its legendary size, but every so often a big one popped up and kept things interesting. I only had one that made me walk back to the top of the point today, but it was a real rock and roller. A Tip-toeing nose ride coverup take-off, a couple of well placed turns, and then even a couple of cover-ups made it the wave of the day. I waited around for a long time for another, but the bombs were really few and far between today. At last, my final wave in was such a treat! I rode it all the way past my bike from the point and really tore it up along the way then stepped off the board onto the shoreline and casually walked up the beach to my bike. It was a good way to finish off the year. My surfing, just from dragging myself down so often, has really improved itself this year, with more confidence and even a bit of self-assured grace that seems to get me through the ocean’s frothy whims.

DaveGastIt looked like a hurricame was spinning off the coast making big unruly surf today. Grey, windswept water revealed mostly large close out sets that were annoyingly arriving in 15 or 20 wave sets. I got beat to death at Dogpatch just trying to find a decent wave between the close-outs, both my board and me getting a litle ding in the process. Although I did pull down a few good ones, when the buttboarders weren’t in my way, it really was way to much work for the few waves I got.
Ich liebe diesen Typen 😆

DaveGastAsshole Point
Mood: don’t ask
Now Playing: 1-3 sPerfect conditions and tiny surf was the order of the day at Lowers today. Kelly Slater, World Champ, happened to be in the water trying to get in a little surf time at the big T before the next ASP contest in September. I always appreciate how many assholes surf Lower’s, because even the kids and wanna-be’s followed him around and spent most of their time trying to snake him out of one wave after another. Of course he ripped a few, but I think he was feeling a little „t’d“ after the crowd got to him, too. I manged a few paltry waves before the same thing happened to me, so I left early, too. It’s nice to know even the best also get the shaft at what I have always called „Asshole Point„.
😆 Ich liebe diesen Typen… 50+ und sooo cool drauf 😉
