<br class=”Apple-interchange-newline” />With our hollow timber boards, we still use a fibreglass and eco-resin finish to make them water proof. That finish combined with the timber makes for a really strong board, so normally any dings happen in the resin and glass and not the wood. Therefore they can be repaired the same as any normal board.
If you did manage to do any serious damage then it may require some woodwork skills, which your husband could probably do for you. but to be honest you’d have to do something pretty spectacular to require that. I don’t think in all the years I’ve been making timber boards I’ve had to do any woodwork on dings, it’s always just the resin and glass that needs repairing.
Regarding the fins; because the boards are hollow, we have to put a block of timber inside the boards where the fin boxes will go. So the fin boxes end up being set into a solid block of wood. This again makes them incredibly strong and very hard to damage. If you did manage to damage a fin box and need it repaired, It would be the same process required as a foam board, so any good ding repair company should be able to sort that for you.
